Sanj was introduced to robotics during a camp in third grade, and then continued on to become the software lead of her team. To pursue her interest, she and friends created a FIRST Lego League (FLL) team, which is an organization that hosts robotics competitions. From there they went to state! After two years of being in FLL she was determined to learn even more. So, in seventh grade she joined the league, a level higher, called FIRST Tech Challenge, where after 3 years is the software lead!

My Adventure in FIRST Lego League (FLL)
Sanj’s robotics journey started in fourth grade when she and her friends formed the Jelly Jolts 39887 team for the FIRST Lego League (FLL). Inspired by the “Intro to Orbit” theme focused on space, they began their exciting journey. Using Lego, Sanj grasped hardware basics and EV3 blocks programming. Their teamwork bore fruit with several awards, showcasing their dedication.
Growing in FLL: Learning and Doing More
In her second FLL year, Sanj’s experienced team took on bigger challenges. Beyond competitions, they reached out to their community, participating in fairs and school events. They even designed their own logo. With the theme “City Shaper,” they tackled urban improvements, creating braille menus for the visually impaired in restaurants. Partnering with a blind organization, their idea materialized and launched in Molly Moon’s ice cream stores. Though the pandemic halted their global plans, the Jelly Jolts won several awards for their innovation and effort.
Transition to FTC: Diving into Software
Despite COVID-19 challenges, Sanj’s robotics journey resumed in eighth grade with the TWIST 8923 robotics team in FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC). She gravitated toward software development in Java. For three years, she embraced competitive robotics, refining her skills and aiding her team. Now, as the software lead, Sanj’s journey reaches its peak, a testament to her determination and commitment.
